Consumers National Bank Receives Two Small Business Administration Awards

MINERVA, Ohio−For the fifth consecutive year, Consumers National Bank has received the Top Community Bank Lender Award and a Top Five Lender Award for the first time from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Cleveland District Office.

The Top Community Bank Lender Award recognizes the bank’s outstanding performance making SBA 7(a) and SBA Express loans during SBA fiscal year 2020, ranking first among community banks in the 28 northern Ohio counties served by the Cleveland SBA Office.
The Top Five Award includes the top five banks in all categories and all sizes—large as well as community banks—in 28 northern counties of Ohio in SBA 7(a) loan volume.

“We are pleased that our business bankers and commercial loan department continue to be recognized for their commitment and expertise in helping small businesses gain access to the capital they need to grow their organizations. In addition to the bank’s traditional SBA lending which these awards recognize, the Consumers commercial lending team originated $69 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans to 607 small businesses, farms, and non-profit organizations throughout northeast Ohio. We are happy to have a strong partner like the Small Business Administration to help us assist our customers in normal times and during periods of great uncertainty. Nationwide, community banks originate over 50% of small business loans and played a lead role in distributing the PPP relief program of the SBA. The support provided by the staff in the Cleveland District Office helped us meet the growing demand. With their support, we look forward to leading the way to an economic recovery,” said Ralph Lober, the Bank’s President and CEO.

“This award recognizes Consumers’ sustained efforts of providing credit to small businesses in urban and rural markets. Their lenders and staff do a great job using the SBA loan programs to support new and growing businesses,” said Gil Goldberg, District Director of the Small Business Administration Cleveland District Office which covers the northern counties of Ohio.

Consumers National Bank has 11 commercial lenders serving business clients from the bank’s 18 branches in Carroll, Columbiana, Jefferson, Stark and Summit counties, plus a loan production office in Wooster. In addition to small business loans, the bank has a history of agriculture lending which supports the rural communities that make up a significant portion of its markets.

Consumers National Bank’s SVP, Senior Loan Officer Scott Dodds said, “We are happy to be recognized as the Top community Bank Lender for the fifth straight year and to be included in the top five. It takes a team effort to achieve these milestones.”
