CONSUMERS NATIONAL BANK GAINS APPROVAL TO OPEN NEW BRANCH IN BOARDMAN, OHIO
Minerva, Ohio–Consumers National Bank announced today that it has received approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for its application to operate a new fullservice branch office on South Avenue in Boardman, Ohio. The approval marks the bank’s first full-service branch in Mahoning County and its 24th in the bank’s six county network. Consumers National Bank anticipates that banking operations at the new Boardman office will begin in the summer of 2026.
Consumers National Bank was established by local business people in Minerva, Ohio, in 1965. Since that time, the bank has expanded beyond Stark to Carroll, Columbiana, Jefferson, Mahoning, and Summit counties bringing its philosophy of community banking and knowledgeable, personalized service to these markets. Consumers has grown to $1.1 billion in assets and holds $1.0 billion in deposits.
Consumers Bank previously opened its current Boardman Loan Center in January 2023, which enabled the bank to gain brand recognition and a solid customer base. Over the last few years, commercial loan balances attributed to Boardman have grown and our mortgage and treasury management teams have developed fruitful relationships. This success, along with Boardman's $1.5 billion deposit market and recent developments in the local competitive
market, makes now the right time to increase the bank’s presence in Mahoning County,” said Ralph J. Lober II, President & CEO of Consumers National Bank.
The new South Avenue location, which will replace the existing Boardman Loan Production Office on West Avenue, will add approximately five full and part-time jobs to the area, including a branch relationship manager and relationship bankers. The site plan is being developed, and the facility is still in the design phase, but will include a traditional bank lobby, night depository, drive-thru teller, and drive-up ATM. In addition to offices for branch relationship officers, the building will house mortgage loan originators, business bankers, and wealth management partners. It will also provide workspaces for the bank’s Mahoning and Trumbull County back office and support employees.
“We look forward to building new personal and business banking relationships from our new Boardman branch and to making a difference in the community. We think Boardman and the surrounding community will embrace our unique brand of community banking,” said Lober.
